"Connecting through the eye of a storm" describes the Business Continuity Information Network (BCIN) project and the needs of the communities it is serving. BCIN was piloted by 100 South Florida businesses in the 2008 hurricane season. This "clearinghouse of information" allows businesses to obtain answers to critical questions, allowing them to make decisions about how and when they can resume operations. Yi Deng of the School of Computer and Information Sciences at FIU and Juan Caraballo of IBM spoke with Dan Grech of Marketplace about the need for BCIN in South Florida.
